Support the supporters! The businesses and individuals advertising in PakuViews are participating not
only to promote their businesses, but to support our new community magazine – so be sure to tell them you saw
them in PakuViews. Thanks to all for making PakuViews possible!
A
s press deadline approaches for our third
issue, I am overcome with gratitude for being
part of such a fabulous community.
T
he acceptance and support we receive from
readers makes the effort worth every minute.
(However, next issue I may try to sign up for Meals on
Wheels to make sure we remember to eat.)
Paku- Views results from the efforts of many,
particularly the core team that gives their all to bring
the magazine to you.
The multi-talented Rowena Brown. Her passion and
belief in Paku- Views from the get go was instrumental
in its success. With extra efforts and enthusiasm in
getting our advertising businesses on board, the 16
pages we’d planned for that frst issue quickly became
a full fedged 32 page magazine. (Rowena’s injections
of humour and fun are to be found throughout this
issue in the many articles and briefs she authored.)
Rowena shared my belief that Paku- Views would be
a valuable community project enhancing a sense
of pride and cohesiveness, not only to Tairua and
Pauanui, but to neighbouring communities as well.
Our intent is to report the “good news” of our area and
share the stories and people that make us so special.
Keryn Drummond has also impressed me with her
innate writing abilities, having authored and edited
several articles since our inception. Her support and
involvement in the magazine has been invaluable as
both a devoted friend and counseling coach.
I have been fortunate to have both Rowena and Keryn
by my side, playing the valuable roles of midwives to
each issue, ushering and encouraging me through the
ups and downs of the birthing process. Even bringing
food on occasion. (I want to thank the host of Colonial
B&B for allowing Rowena to cut a gorgeous waratah
to give me a boost–it made my day.)
Paku- Views designer Matt Hishon is a master at his
craft. His genius with creative design wows me at
every turn. Matt works miracles combining the visual
images and words together to create a pleasing and
exceptional product for our readers to enjoy.
Husband Greg’s attention to detail makes his valuable
proofng and editing skills a must in the craziness of
deadlines, as well as for the tedious job of compiling
and completing the events calendar. He deserves a lot
of credit for just putting up with a very stressed me
at deadline.
Matt and Greg are the grounding male forces that
swoop in and play a key role in bringing Paku- Views in
to physical reality.
It is an honour to produce a medium that showcases
so many talented individuals.
We hope that our efforts extend to bringing all the
nearby communities together, representing the little
slice of heaven we call “home”, in a positive light to
the world beyond Coromandel.
And thanks to all those silent Paku- Views supporters
and promoters, the seen and unseen. I thank you all...
See you in the Autumn – Tovi (& Greg) Daly
