READ BROS RECEIVES TOP AWARDS

Last year, Read Bros celebrated 150 years in business – five generations, one

store. It’s no surprise that this iconic hardware store was named the Supreme

Winner of the Hauraki Coromandel Business Awards 27 September. They

also topped the Retail Award category.

The store is currently owned by Stuart and Jocelyn Read and their son John,

who has also been serving as manager the past five years. “We stand on

the strong shoulders of Reads going back generations; and I’m very, very

pleased that John is doing such a wonderful job for the future.”

Our Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) for The Coromandel Peninsula and

Hauraki Plains recently took out awards for overall results in two key areas: online

marketing performance: organic search traffic and online video audience, beating

out 30 RTOs from around the country.

We have come to appreciate the extraordinary work this dedicated team do to

produce the highest quality promotional material that drives so many visitors to

our special place. Their online material is stunning and comprehensive, featuring

all that The Coromandel has to offer as a premium destination – all expertly shot

and reproduced for viewers’ pleasure.

We here at

Coromandel Life

have immensely enjoyed our collaborative efforts with

Destination Coromandel over the years, and are pleased to see them getting some

well-deserved industry recognition.

Read Bros, the oldest family owned business in NZ,

really holds family values dear. Through five generations

their great customer service and unrivalled range of

stock has seen them endure and thrive.

THE SECRET TO THEIR SUCCESS?

No secret at all! Just plain old-fashioned good service

and everyday products that people need. And if ever

you need something, someone will always suggest you

try Reads, and EUREKA they’ll likely have it.

The company’s recipe for success has been brewing

for well over a century. Founder John Read was a

timber merchant and iron monger providing timber and

fixtures for the mines, and later shifted focus to support industries like A&G

Price that manufactured railroad steam engines. The Reads still operate with

that “whatever’s needed” spirit.
